At Last: A Chance for Real Action on Global Warming
On Earth Day 2008, the House of Representatives was presented with a plan for real action on global warming. Chairman Henry Waxman, Chairman Ed Markey, and Representative Jay Inslee introduced their Principles for Global Warming Legislation (read full text here), a roadmap to produce a comprehensive program for the U.S. to reduce global warming emissions.
Now is the time to let your representative know that you support taking real, effective, and practical action to curb global warming.
The principles laid out by this landmark plan include ideas that are long overdue in our country's approach to global warming, including:
- A commitment to ongoing scientific review so that the best available science will always be taken into account
- Assistance for the wildlife and ecosystems threatened by global warming.
- A call for investment in energy efficiency
- A strong citizen enforcement provision
Thanks to the leadership of these lawmakers, the momentum is building in Congress to fight global warming.
Please join Earthjustice in calling upon Congress to adopt the Principles for Global Warming Legislation in crafting a bill that will effectively and realistically define our nation's response to global warming.
